We did the painting this past summer - can't believe I am just now getting around to posting this.
The pictures speak for themselves

BEFORE - thanks Google Maps |
|
Before form the same angle as below |
|
After - even the sidewalk was redone (in brick) |

One of my favorite views |

Boy does this look messy - aluminum flashing removed - old paint exposed - evidence of trim that was removed - see below for after. |
|
Before - Rafter tails covered over by tons of aluminum flashing |
|
After - no more flashing - and we replaced the removed trim both inside and out. |
I thought I had left a comment, but apparently not. The colours and revealed details look great!
ReplyDeleteThanks JC. It is amazing how much more comfortable the home is without the red, white and blue colors, and with the flashing gone. The original trim was stained deep brown and oil finished. We chose to repaint in greens after trying many color combinations including a very close second place bluestone combo. Going "backward" and making the home more like it was originally really brings about a much better and more sensible feeling for us and our guests. One added note: while the colors are not 100% authentic (the greens would have been more grey and the orange red more brown) they are in keeping with the spirit of the home. Inside its all about reaching for 100% authenticity.
